  1. I am jelous. I am a big fan the the Quay Brothers and find their work truly amazing. I can’t put my finger on it but they make a lot of sence to me with their animation in a strange way. Pure emotion and thought behind their work.

  2. They are so amazing! My university campus has an exhibition all about them at the moment and has all the sets and original characters in there too! Plus we met The brothers! really great guys, directors and artists

  3. read original story by Bruno Schulz, watch the animation 2 or 3 times, stop asking stupid questions. 🙂

  4. i don’t think that’ll help… admittedly it’s been years, but the book and this film seemed to be very vaguely acquainted. surrealists eh? the schultz story is utterly beautiful though.
the closest thing i’ve found to the quays in literature is ben marcus’s stories (especially ‘the age of wire and string’), which if this is your bag, i urge you to seek out.

  5. same here, DocNOproductions. i’ve spent the last several hours searching for this piece, having no idea who made it or what it was called. i taped it from pbs the same time you saw it most likely and am so glad to have finally found this again!

  6. to my opinion i think its talking about how cities only hold useless junks. the man scans out these places using the little man to collect screws. in the beginning it shows a small bowl of similar screws so i think the man wants him to bring one back. also i want to point out how well this was out together. for a moment i forgot it was all stop motion cuz it was all so fluent. the quay brothers are true artists in the stop motion buisness.

  7. south park episode, where butters schemes to be an evil villain, but every plot he comes up with, the simpsons did it first! (it was funny!)

  8. It seemed confusing to me as well, then I thought it just might not be about what’s going on, but about what feeling it gives you. It doesn’t neccesarily have to have a simple story that makes sense right?

  9. Brothers Quay made this in 1986 four years before TOOL was even formed and and 3 years before simpsons started whatever that weird comment was even about…lolz.
they made their first short film in 1979…how old were the tool boys then? like just out of school right…lol

  10. Can someone please make sense of what is going on in this? It confuses me! But I like it a lot, i saw it on the Sundance channel and I thought it was awesome, but pointless.
