Jumpin Jive – Cab Calloway and the Nicholas Brothers

Here’s a clip from the movie “Stormy Weather” (1943) featuring Cab Calloway and his orchestra performing “Jumpin Jive”. After awhile they let the Nicholas Brothers jump in and lend their feet to the action.

  1. These gentleman had some class! Hot damn, so slick. If I saw men like this now-a-days, I’d totally fall for them.

  2. I saw this the first time when I was a teenager clear back in the seventies. I’ve spent a great deal of my time since then teaching the little children of all colors that we owe an enormous debt to the Nicholas Brothers and, of course, Cab Calloway.

They were, and still are “sh*t HOT!”

  3. AWESOME!!! no words to describe what is this video… and the perfect performance of the Nicholas brothers… simply WOW…

  4. Philly is the best kept secret with American music, brilliance at that. Everyone thinks NYC, Chicago, New Orleans, even Memphis before Philly. Not so.

  5. This is the best…I Remember Cab doing Miserable Minerva at age 77 in the Blues Brothers Movies…That was an amazing thing…Best part of the movie.

  6. Of course you people can’t believe it cause the Nicholas Brothers were without question the greatest tap and show dancers that ever lived! They have an album, which I own, called “We Sing Too” Do they ever, in fact the sing in four languages! Philadelphia as usual is the place where it all began…

  7. entertainers! the band…the dancing! egads to have been alive and seen this with my eyes…!
I’m 27 and my father was of this generation and saw Cab right before the war (WW2) said he was the smoothest cat he ever met RIP to both of them
