Neither. I find the way it is presented biased: “atrocities”, “greed”, “inevitable British victory due to overwhelming numbers” etc.
I don’t doubt any of this and the movie does in fact present facts, but apparently it is written from the Boer point of view which presents the Birtish especially negative and lifts the Boer soldiers to heroes (e.g. the way the British victory is presented). Again, everything is correct and it’s a great film, but a historical presentation should be more objective.
what’s biased? The fact that the British should have been tried forwar crimes or that the boers were subject to the first concentration camps?
This is pretty biased…
Yes nice, and he who plants death, becomes death.
How did a nation of 100 000 come up and instigate apartheid? over a white population of 4 million and a black population of 25 million?
You should go try your fake biblical trix somewhere else.
nice comment: who plant mango will recolt mango
*i can not believe afrikaner will come with apartheid system after boer war.
Dammm, I’m so ignorant I didnt even know half this stuff althought I learnt it in school I forgot. …mmm Should I leave england now?? hectic!
This one sided demonization of the Boers is quite telling on your part as you neglect to mention how the various Bantu tribes engaged IN MUCH WORSE outright genocidal activities yet I doubt you would call into question their right to their lands. Peoples all over the world have displaced / enslaved & killed in the placed they settled into – yet one hears little concerning their rights in the region their ancestors conquered – BUT for some lopsided reason only the Boers are ever held to account.
Author Timothy Keegan in Colonial South Africa & the Origins of the Racial Order notes on page 35 & 36 that racial attitudes were initiated by the British & that they treated the locals (of all races) much worse than the Boers ever did. The assertion of an “international consciousness of human rights” is a lot of unadulterated nonsense as the British HAD NO INTEREST in such & only used the assertion in the name of expanding the British Empire. Enter the Anglo-Boer Wars.
This comment was just propagandistic bullshit as per usual I have noticed from you. There might have been some skirmishes with those small local tribes but it was nothing on the scale of the Difaqane that’s for sure. The Sothos started working on Boer farms as an effort at gaining their protection from the then Zulu incursions. Furthermore: those local tribes stole the land from the original Khoisan inhabitants. The British treated the “kaffirs” (to use your term) much worse then the Boer did.
Before the war, Boers had displaced, enslaved and killed many Pedi, Maroteng, Sotho etc. native people who had been in the region for centuries. Yes the difaqane had displaced clusters of them leaving large tracts of land empty, but Boers had no more legal right to the land than anyone. At the end of the 19th century slavery was being abolished and interntional conciousness of human rights was being born, but nobody was going to tell the Boers how to treat “their kaffirs”. Enter Britain.
Damien Rice – Crimes
Artist = Song
What is the name of the song?
why didnt boers take the chance to fuck the british in ww2. in the battle of britain was at its very weakest no help was coming from amercia then. you could have tucked them up for good. irishguinessboy the boers are protestants who were murdered by cathlics in france. didnt you watch p 1. and south africa supplied the uda with its arms, its never as simple as my enemies enemy

i like to know why deuce bags like lillie20 and hendrikengelsekaffer watch our stuff if they hate us so bad, i say fuckoff to darfur kafur.
if you dont know the past it will repeat it self.
You are a Nothing more than a simpathy seeking Blackman Nazi, looking for excuses to why you killing everone around you, soon the world will see you for what you are, and geuss what friend, tag your it.
you are living in the past and you are not prepared for the future, that’s the problem of a lot of boers like you!
Australia ‘pacified’ the Malaysian guerrilla war in the 1950’s by placing the population in concentration camps. Malaysia is still a supposed democracy 2 this day. In areas of Vietnam where the same method of internment was again used by Oz there was less damage and some control. I think the camps were the best option to stop support of guerrilla factions and ultimately did far less damage than the US hands off policies, of bombing and Agent Orange. The Brits did same to Boers, ja? ‘War is hell’
2008? does that make genocide less? or just better excuse for commiting it?
But Germany supported the Boer Republics, the German Empire sent weapons!!!!!
Not quite sure what you are getting at coconut77?. If you are implying that the boers treated the blacks similarly to the way the British treated them, well then your an idiot and clearly know fuck-all about our history.
Simple question: Why are there so much more blacks in SAfrica than whites if they were thrown in concentration camps to rot???? Back to school with you, start with basic maths idiot.
Secondly if you didin’t notice (and i quote) ” I SYMPATHIZE WITH YOUR HISTORY” NOT agreed, NOT competed, NOT negated. I am simply being objective. You are NOT the only people in the world to have suffered to the extent that you can shun someone who is simply aknowledging the woes of others who are CURRENTLY suffering. TYPICAL!!!!
It is so obvious that you are so used to fighting and possibly predgudice that you are looking for any reason to fight. Nothing i said was attacking you or anyone. There was no malice in there not even any sarcasm. I AM highly educated, i am a medical student and i am aware of what happed during this period. It it isn’t even remotely related to my comment. And like you rightly said, IN 1956. We are currently in 2008 should you have forgotten (and yes THAT was sarcasm)
