BBC: The Boer War – Part 5

Watch all 5 in order of succession (1 to 5)

The Boer War was by modern terms a genocide with some of the most horrific acts of barbarism against the Boer People. Concentration camps where invented by the English during the Boer War and in fact the Boers were to be histories 1st holocaust victims!

  1. This is a very one sided documentary, using emotional pleas to get the audience on their side. It had the opposite effevt on me before i watched this i would have been more pro Boer, but this has left me unsure due to its grose bias, a very low point for the usually good BBC.

  2. May all of you who justify a genocide in the name of commodities, whether it is the oil of today or the gold of the Boer wars, burn in hell with the Imperialist leaders of the British Empire who enforced such cowardice policies. God will not leave these acts unpunished. Good luck to those hypocrites who posted the comments below. Id rather be in a British imposed concentration camp than in any of your shoes!!!

  3. He may as well refer the the English as “the poopy faced British” and the Boers as “the giant-dicked superfabulous Boers”, this is retarded.

I really just want to hear what happened, I don’t need that drivel.

  4. Seriously, how about a little more neutrality and a bit less spewing?

It undermines the entire excercize and makes me wonder what he leaves out to get his point across.

  5. You silly old cunt..As insensitive as the British were to even their own soldiers Better luck next time for every unlucky British soldier that gets killed in Iraq or Afghanistan??

  6. someone should shoot that silly old cunt on the video. unlucky boers – you lose. better luck next time.

  9. nee Skinballas, nou praat jy k*k.

  12. Why would the British create a documentary that is biased towards the Boers. Maybe the Boers, although they lost the war, did come out the other side looking like true victors, and so they should, like they say, 20,000 vs 500,000. Hardly seems a fair fight, does it?

  13. The comparison between our revolution and the Boer war is not apt. The Transvaal and Orange Free State were independent nations, not British colonies. British leaders and entrepreneurs in the Cape colony agitated for war with these indepedent nations out of greed. Milner and Rhodes were the worst of the bunch. The British were solely to blame for the war and, to my knowledge, the atrocities committed during it.
What was the BBC to do, manufacture some Boer culpability to “balance things”?

  14. From the perspective of an American this stuff looks ridiculously biased towards the boers.

But we do the same thing when we talk about the American revolution. Demonize the British and glorify the founding fathers.

  15. Typical propaganda piece, viewing a historical period out of its context, as if those events were occurring in a modern context, rather than capturing the historical context and values of the time, as a serious historian would. And no, BBC is not substandard, it is a standard news organization, which means, garbage.

  16. Convincingly argued. Bravo! Maybe next you could argue that the BBC is a substandard news organization because it “sucks.” It’s a very convincing argument.

  17. Cld someone explain to me why a people that suffered so much seemed to have so little sympathy for the blacks later on, when they were fighting for equality? I am completely ignorant of the history.

  18. this was not the fault of the british people it was the ruling classes. the soldiers were made to charge gunfire again and again just like ww1. if you knew how the british class system worked you see that we were used more like disposable machines. the penalty for not walking where told was death for a soldier.

  20. This is not serious history. Almost comical. However, I am sure that many consider this quite good. They violate just about every rule a serious historian has to follow to even have a chance to grasping the essence of a period. Watching this will just make you more stupid, unless you ignore it. There is NOTHING in this that is convincing, if you are an objective person.
